April Chapter Meeting
Over the past year, TABB has been working closely with officials of the Texas State Securities Board to clarify when a business broker is required to possess a TSSB securities license when engaged in the acquisition or sale of a business. During the April 17 chapter meeting, two top TSSB officials, TSSB General Counsel, David Weaver, and Bennett Zivley, TSSB Director of Inspections, will make a formal presentation to TABB members on this issue. The program has been specifically designed for TABB members and will cover such topics as:

  • How the Texas State Securities Board views its regulation of business broker operations.

  • Why business brokers should register with the TSSB.

  • How to register with the TSSB.
  • What happens when a broker receives an on-site examination (audit).

  • What to expect and how to properly prepare for a TSSB examination.
  • Release and review of the new FAQ’s being posted on the TSSB web site about business broker registration.

  • Questions and answers.

All chapter members are urged to attend this important program. Due to the length of the presentation, we are asking members to arrive promptly at 11:30 am. and proceed to the buffet line.
